Spiritual Life

At BLI, we believe that one of our top priorities is the spiritual development of our students and we work diligently to disciple our students to live out their faith in every area of their life. We take our discipleship cues from our Wesleyan heritage.

The school gathers for corporate prayer in the morning and at noon, Monday through Friday. During these times, we meet together to read Scripture and to lift the needs of the community in prayer.

Each student is also part of a small accountability group connected to The House System that meets weekly for prayer, and mutual encouragement. In addition to campus opportunities for worship and communion, students are expected to attend either the campus church or a local church of their choosing.

Christian service is another important component to the spiritual development of individuals. Students take part in regular outreach to the community through assisting in the ministries of local churches, helping neighbors, and community service projects. The service is a required part of our academic program and serves to help students gain experience in ministering in area that they have developed an interest in.

Finally, faculty and staff are available for spiritual guidance and support. Our faculty is unique in that nearly each one is an ordained minister of the Gospel with years of pastoral experience. Each House has a faculty or staff mentor that is intentional about developing relationships with the members of their House. They provide encouragement, pastoral care when needed, and they seek out opportunities to disciple students in their care. All faculty and staff will also provide both academic and spiritual counsel.
